The retractable roof is 7.8m x 3m, consisting of two sliding panels approximately 3m x 3m each that concertina over a single fixed panel. The two sliding panels can be moved independently of each other (i.e. one or both panels can be opened) to maximise the flexibility of space usage.
Tilt constructed the roof from a galvanised steel frame and selected the cladding materials for their aesthetics, thin form and quality.
The panels are insulated and clad with Colorbond on the top and Alucobond on the underside.
The solar-powered roof uses stepper motors which are powered by batteries charged by onboard solar panels. Operation of the roof is via remote control and integrated C-Bus home automation system.
