Urban renewal is the driving force behind the transformation of the old 'Sweetacres' factory into a new accessible playground and recreation area. As the City of Sydney transforms the industrial precinct in Rosebery and areas surrounding Green Square, a new neighbourhood is emerging with liveability front and centre.
A once bland industrial site has now been reinvented as a multi-use recreation space, catering for a range of community needs. The park includes a large open space for play and recreation, landscaped native gardens and groves, with areas for picnics and nature play, as well as dog-friendly areas. Designed by Gallagher Studio and in collaboration with Regal Innovations, Partridge and Tilt, the park is a new community hub for locals.
The key feature of the park is a bespoke nature-inspired playground with iconic ‘gum nest’ and linked play structures. Tilt worked with Regal Innovations to provide design services for the play structure and Tilt took on the management of the fabrication and installation of the play equipment.
Public spaces are as vital as the roads and structures within it and addressing the needs of our whole community demographic is vital to creating places where people want to live.
