Contemporary ventilated skylight for a residential terrace, without disturbance to the 1861 heritage structure.
We collaborated with Brad Swartz Architects to resolve the main design approach of increasing natural sunlight as much as possible throughout the terrace.
Although the outer-shell of the home is heritage, our design methodologies had no impact upon the existing structure.
The roof of the terrace is pitched. Therefore our design methodologies required an integrated structural concept and reliable waterproofing details. This enables the large skylight to withstand wind loads when open.
The skylight runs sunlight and ventilation right through the centre of what was formerly an unused dark attic. Homeowners now benefit from increased sunlight, ventilation, and additional space in their home.
