Setting a new standard in rooftop dining, ‘Beverly’ at Goldfields House in South Yarra, takes sophistication and innovation to a new level. Featuring a revolutionary retractable roof that opens fully to seamlessly transform the enclosed air-conditioned space into an immersive open-air experience.
In South Yarra’s cosmopolitan Chapel Street, the rooftop of Beverly is a unique LA inspired dining experience. The jewel on Beverly’s crown is a innovative retractable 100sqm roof that transitions from indoor to outdoor with a touch of button.
Working in collaboration with Cox Architecture and Goldfields Group, Tilt designed the retractable roof system to open fully to bring the outside in. The first of its kind in Melbourne, the design features a control system with wind and rain sensors to enhance functionality and provide optimal thermal comfort.
Utilising 3D modelling and engineering simulations, Tilt designed Beverly’s unique roof system with a vertical lift mechanism, like a car sunroof. The 100sqm glass roof opens with a two-step process by first lifting and then sliding back across the roof to maximise the alfresco experience.
The design and technology use advanced mechatronics to achieve a complete seal (Section J compliance) on the operable roof, which can be challenging on a rooftop, and at this elevation (24 floors high). With Tilt’s engineering expertise, Beverly sets a new benchmark in the built environment and opens the possibilities for flexible, high-performing spaces.
“Tilt’s realisation of our vision has further elevated Beverly’s position as the ideal spot to escape and enjoy a world-class dining experience.”
Goldfields’ Managing Director, Marco Gattino
