New Parramatta Civic Centre to comprise sun tracking louvres – embracing innovations in design and manufacturing
In collaboration with Built and Core Facade Delivery Management, Tilt Industrial Design has been engaged to deliver a bespoke sun shading system for the western façade of the new Parramatta Civic Centre.
-
The operable sun shading system embraces innovations in design and manufacturing to provide a high-performance sun shading solution whilst physically conforming to the facades unique geometry.
The new Civic Centre’s concept was developed by French/Australian architectural team – Manuelle Gautrand Architecture, Design Inc, and Lacoste and Stevenson.
The western façade features three main areas where the operable louvres will be situated.
The louvres can respond to the sun’s position and provide an optimised climatic condition for occupants and efficiency in building operational costs whilst also meeting shading compliance requirements.
To manage solar heat gain, the 200 parallelogram shaped louvre blades overlap each other, providing an innovative design outcome that responds to the exacting performance requirements.
-
Tilt has been engaged to complete the detailed design and engineering for the louvre system, as well as support Core Facade Delivery Management in offshore procurement of the blades, and install and commission the custom operable shading system.
