Illuminating Urban Landscapes through Public Art
Light possesses the remarkable ability to revolutionise our perception of the world. When incorporated into public art, it has the power to transform the way we view a city, unveiling fresh perspectives and accentuating the allure of its architecture and public spaces.
By harnessing the potential of light to illuminate our urban landscapes, we foster a more dynamic and inclusive cityscape, unlocking new avenues for creativity, engagement, and wayfinding.

Enhancing the Nighttime Experience
Interwoven, Ormonde Parade by Artist Lawrence Liang
Interwoven is a captivating series of LED neon tubes intricately tangled together. Each neon trail symbolises a significant corridor of connectivity found within the Georges River Local Government Area, including waterways, arterial roads, railways, and bus routes.
This remarkable artwork enriches the nighttime experience of the transport hub, providing commuters a heightened sense of engagement throughout their commute.
The lighting programming and colours employed in Interwoven are divided into three distinct stages: past, present, and future. The past stage represents the serene undulations of the Georges River, evoking a sense of tranquillity and nostalgia. The present stage symbolises the diverse pathways available to us in our lives, emphasising the choices we make and the journeys we embark upon. Finally, the future stage emerges as an unrestrained symphony of vibrant colours, offering a glimpse into the limitless possibilities and wonders that lie ahead.
Overall, Interwoven serves as a mesmerising visual representation of the interconnectedness and vitality of the Georges River Local Government Area, while simultaneously providing an immersive and captivating experience for all who encounter it.

Highlighting the beauty of architecture
Sea Mirror, One Central Park by Lighting Artist Yann Kersalé
Recognised as one of the world’s best tall buildings, the hovering cantilever that crowns One Central Park is the focal point for an enchanting assembly of motorised and fixed mirrors that reflect sunlight throughout the site during the day.
After dark, the cantilever turns into a canvas for a public art installation ‘Sea Mirror’ that presents interpretations of Sydney’s landscape in the sky. Described as a chandelier for the city, the heliostat reflectors transform into a theatrical lighting display illuminating the towers. Tilt collaborated with international lighting artist Yann Kersalé to create the integrated LED lighting system made up of 2880 individual LED nodes with each node containing six LEDs.
