With nine years of experience working as a creative consultant across the applied and public arts sectors, including four-plus years at Broached Commissions as General Manager and Design Director, Clauscen’s end-to-end experience working with both commercial and culturally significant applied-arts collections, public art commissions and exhibitions, as well as strategic design direction, will enable Tilt to diversify its offering across architecture, landscape architecture and public art within a new and competitive market.

Clauscen’s education at both home and abroad, encompassing Media & Communications at RMIT University and design studies at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, has seen her develop an acute understanding and appreciation for visual and material culture and design in relation to both history and the environment.

“My interest in materials and atmospheres is connected to a deep curiosity for how humans interact with objects, architecture and urban spaces and how these elements are used to express historical, social and environmental themes,” says Clauscen.

“Public art provides an opportunity to communicate social values and ask questions that relate to how we use civic space, through storytelling. I look forward to working with such a renowned studio as Tilt.”Clauscen’s new appointment will see her on the ground in Melbourne, furthering business development prospects for Tilt by offering creative and strategic consultancy for public art projects in the state from start to finish.

Tilt’s addition of a Curator and Design Manager will further see the studio able to invest in contextual and material research, sustainability practices and material innovation.

“I am a big advocate for unexpected creative partnerships – working not only with artists, designers and researchers, but practitioners from left-of-field industries and local communities to create collaborative outcomes that are thought-provoking, interactive and educational. I hope to bring this perspective to the role and look forward to working on unconventional and authentic design outcomes that make a mark,” says Clauscen.

Standout projects delivered by Tilt Industrial Design include installations with Vivid Sydney (Endless Love, Gravitational Grid, Earth Deities) as well Sea Mirror at One Central Park and Musical Spheres at Angel Place.

Tilt is currently working on a public art sculpture in Melbourne named Lane Change for Brimbank Aquatic and Wellness Centre, alongside architects Office Feuerman.
